Soho Classical meets Alexandra Hamilton-Ayres

Alexandra is a British Film Composer. She has scored music for feature film, drama, documentary, opera, dance, circus and theatre productions. Her music has been played in concert and on radio in Europe. Alexandra’s work is mainly influenced by film music, minimalism, electronic and continuous music.

When did you start composing and why?

I started really experimenting on the piano when I was 15. I was playing a lot of classical repertoire and became keen to make my own sounds. Pops let me listen me a tape of a composer who had done an idea for a film of his and I just started playing with the idea.

I couldn’t live without Holst’s The Planets
